- 1 cup of white rice (long grain or medium grain)
- 4 cups of water
- 1 cup unsweetened milk: Regular milk (or your desired milk eg., regular almond milk, soya milk, rice milk, coconut milk)
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 Cinnamon stick Or ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp salt
Wash the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
In a large saucepan, combine the rice, water, salt, and a cinnamon stick.
Cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender. Stir occasionally and lower the heat if needed to prevent burning.
Add one cup of unsweetened milk (adjust to taste) and stir continuously .
Then add the vanilla and nutmeg, stirring well. Let it cook for another 5 to 8 minutes.
Turn off the heat and sweeten to taste with condensed milk.
