INGREDIENTS
  

  • 1 cup of white rice (long grain or medium grain)
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 cup unsweetened milk: Regular milk (or your desired milk eg., regular almond milk, soya milk, rice milk, coconut milk)
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Cinnamon stick Or ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS
 

  • Wash the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
  • In a large saucepan, combine the rice, water, salt, and a cinnamon stick.
  • Cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender. Stir occasionally and lower the heat if needed to prevent burning.
  • Add one cup of unsweetened milk (adjust to taste) and stir continuously .
  • Then add the vanilla and nutmeg, stirring well. Let it cook for another 5 to 8 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and sweeten to taste with condensed milk.
  • Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Jamaican Rice Porridge!
