- 2 cups all-purpose flour (plain flour)
- ½ cup fine yellow cornmeal
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup water or milk (adjust as needed for consistency)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Mix the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
Gradually add the milk and knead to form a soft dough (not sticky or paste-like).
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-low heat.
Divide the dough into 10-12 pieces and shape each into an elongated (long) form with your hands.
Place the dough into the hot oil and turn frequently to cook evenly.
Remove when golden brown and drain on paper towels.
