INGREDIENTS
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plain flour)
  • ½ cup fine yellow cornmeal
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup water or milk (adjust as needed for consistency)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

INSTRUCTIONS
 

  • Mix the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  • Gradually add the milk and knead to form a soft dough (not sticky or paste-like).
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-low heat.
  • Divide the dough into 10-12 pieces and shape each into an elongated (long) form with your hands.
  • Place the dough into the hot oil and turn frequently to cook evenly.
  • Remove when golden brown and drain on paper towels.
