INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups fresh Jamaican cherries: Washed and stems removed
  • 4 cups water: To help with blending
  • 1 lime: Halved, seeds removed, and freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons sugar: Adjust to taste
  • 1-2 inches fresh ginger (optional): Peeled and grated or chopped for a hint of zest
  • Ice cubes: For serving
  • Lime wedges (optional): For garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Wash the Jamaican cherries and remove the stems.
  • If using ginger, peel and grate or chop the ginger.
  • Wash the lime, cut it in half, and squeeze out the juice, removing the seeds.
  • Prepare the sugar to sweeten the juice to taste.

Blend the Ingredients:

  • Place the fresh Jamaican cherries into the blender.
  • Add the fresh lime juice and sugar. If using ginger, add the grated or chopped ginger at this stage.
  • Pour in the water to help with blending. Blend until the mixture is smooth and the cherries are fully broken down.

Strain the Juice:

  • Pour the blended cherry mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl. Use a spoon to press down and extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp and seeds.

Adjust the Sweetness (optional):

  • Taste the juice and adjust the sweetness with more sugar if needed. If you prefer more tartness, you can add an extra splash of lemon juice.

Chill and Serve:

  • Transfer the juice to a pitcher.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill (optional).
  • When ready to serve, pour the juice over ice cubes in glasses.
  • Garnish with lime wedges for an extra refreshing touch if desired.

NOTES

●  The amount of sugar can be adjusted based on your personal preference. If you prefer a sweeter juice, feel free to add more. Or you can leave out the sweetener altogether if the cherries are sweet enough on their own.
